Beginners' Courses

Green Hollow Bowmen run annual Beginners' Courses for those interested in taking up traditional archery. Our courses are suitable for people from age fourteen to adult (see this page for information about archery for children) and while reasonable co-ordination is a useful asset, great physical strength is not essential.

The course consists of six weekly lessons, each lasting around an hour and a half and usually taking place on Sunday mornings starting in late September or early October. Tuition is provided by our club coaches assisted by other experienced archers, and numbers taking part are kept small - we aim to have one tutor for every two pupils so you get plenty of attention.

Green Hollow Bowmen's beginners' courses cost £50. This covers tuition, hire of all necessary equipment and third party insurance. Please note that the waiting list is usually fairly long and we cannot guarantee a place on the current year's course.

If you would like to put your name on the waiting list for a beginners' course, contact the giving your name and full postal address plus your age if under eighteen. Again, please note that due to the size of our waiting list, new applicants may have to wait until subsequent courses for a place.

Please note that our insurance conditions relating to the Child Protection Act require that all those under the age of eighteen attending any meetings of Green Hollow Bowmen or of the BL-BS must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian, or by a responsible adult authorised in writing by their parent or guardian.
